Gridview and rowupdating sql 2016 updating a substring in a char field

A friend asked me to help him out on this and frankly it has me completely stumped as well.

I have a Grid View control and use old style manual binding with a Data Source property and invoke the Data Bind() method.

If you don't use one of the Data Source controls, you are required to handle the Row Updating event.

I confirmed this using Reflector: protected virtual void On Row Updating(Grid View Update Event Args e) { bool flag1 = base.

Is Bound Using Data Source ID; Grid View Update Event Handler handler1 = (Grid View Update Event Handler) base.

I did some google searches, and there were examples out there but it just isn't making sense. Hi, I would first suggest that you use the Template Columns instead of the Bound Columns this way you are not dependent on the index/position of the column in the Grid View. In the code below I have shown how you can extract the new values from the textboxes inside the Grid View. Once, you got the values you just need to send them to the database. HTML CODE: C# Code Behind: private void Bind Data() protected void gv Categories_Row Editing(object sender, Grid View Edit Event Args e) protected void gv Categories_Row Updating(object sender, Grid View Update Event Args e) does a template field allow you to get around indexing? Also, my code below works pretty well, I even have the framework worked out to get my data values from the gridview.
